Word to Start With
We go use these six meditations during di Advent Season every year. Advent dey always begin with attention on Christ as King. Then, when Advent reach middle, di attention go turn to di things wey happen before di birth of this King, Christ our Lord. As you turn your eyes to di beginning of Christ life, di invitation no be only to turn away from sin, but also to turn to Christ. Di only purpose of looking deeply into your sins for di Meditations wey Lay di Foundation na to turn away from them. And di only reason to turn away from sin na so that you fit turn to Christ. Na Him be your life and your hope. Na because of Him you dey live. His will and Him Himself must become di centre and foundation of who you be. And this one go only dey possible if you come know Am deeply, personally and closely, as you surrender yourself completely to Am.
This series of meditations go follow di same arrangement for your Holy Hours and Examen for Every Week as di Meditations wey Lay di Foundation. But small change go dey: instead of di Seven Capital Sins and di Ten Commandments, di attention go turn to di Shortcomings for di Virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity. Gradually use this deeper examination, as you focus on one virtue at a time from week to week.
Exercises for Notebook
If you don choose to use notebook/journal, when you finish each Holy Hour, take time write notes about anything wey touch your heart. Pay attention to those thoughts, because na especially this way di Holy Spirit dey work. Nobody be exactly like you, and God want tell you certain truths wey you yourself need to know at that time. As you write short notes about anything wey especially stand out to you, those notes go help you for di coming weeks when you return to them. E go especially help if you begin look for things wey dey repeat, so that e go easier for you to discern wetin God dey tell you personally.
